The 2008 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures were given by Professor Chris Bishop on the power of computing. The videos are now available to watch online for free and are also available as a free DVD. Suitable viewing from around age eight upwards. Heres a list of resources that the University of New Brunswick's Computer Science Department has up on their website. The first link is the one I found most useful. It's a zipped file with notes and assignments for Java, Visual Basic and C++ from a High School Teacher in New Brunswick. As I was browsing the Web I found this site that looks really interesting. Apparently there are over 20 different resources on the site including: Lesson Plans, Assessment Strategies, Exemplars, Teaching Strategies, Tutorials, Unit Plans, and Worksheets among many more. They require you to sign up to access all of the content and although membership is free you are required to include the school you work at and because I don't have a position yet I was unable to sign up. That being said I think I'll look into this when I get a position somewhere, it looks really promising. |
